USA When is airfare recognized in accrual accounting?

when it is purchased/booked from airline or date of flight? i.e. paid for dec travel in oct., expenses for oct or dec?

Treat it as retail ie done deal at the point of sale.

You have to apply your own judgement. Personally I just expense and don't bother trying to keep up with who's travelling when in order to apply the expense to that same period.

If a vast amount of money was involved, then yes, there would be a case for applying it 'correctly', but outside of that, there's no point in creating work for yourself that doesn't actually bring any value when it comes down to it.
