I need to file an inactive 1120s, pretty much all zeros. When I mail it in, how would I know the IRS has received and accepted it? Is there anyway to submit it electronically?

Above discusses tax filing software for a business. Using one of those allows you to file electronically. Else to file electronically, you'd need the services of a tax preparer who already has such software.

If you are going to mail, use certified mail with a return receipt. Sending a payment check and having IRS cash it shows they got it. Also, getting a refund from IRS shows they got it. But in both cases you don't really know in the meantime until IRS check is received or your check is cashed.
