Hi,
I have 3 related questions.
I am a U.S. citizen residing abroad for many years. If I would work remotely in Israel for an American company located in New York I understand that I'd pay Federal taxes but do I need to deduct for social security? If I work as a consultant does that matter? Is there any way to set it up that I legally avoid paying S.S.?
Secondly, I must pay 15% for national health insurance here in Israel and about 25% income tax. Is there a way to deduct that from my U.S. amount (earned income) that I am taxed on?
Lastly, if I would work for a British company which is (like above scenario) based in England but I would work remotely from Israel would this exempt me from paying U.S. S.S.? Would I have to pay British taxes of some sort?
Thank you,
J
