USA subcontract a taxpaying employee job to an independent contractor

Hello,

I would like to know if it is legal to subcontract a job as an employee of a company to independent contractors- example. I have a job as an employee with a company that withholds taxes from my paycheck- could I subcontract this job to an independent contractor?

Not necessarily. A person could feasibly work, for example, for 5 different temp agencies and thus receive 5 w2's
