India Self billing or invoicing

Dear all,

when I purchase something , if the supplier can't give me a bill for that , can I prepare my own bills with the approval of concerned authority in my company. Does that self billing has any validity in auditing or it is meaningful to file such a document?

Yes, it is OK to enter your own bill. Otherwise there is no record of the transaction. Just prepare a backup document that the supplier would not give you a bill and attach any related correspondence to support it.
