Position Overview
LeapFrog seeks a Revenue Accounting Manager to assume responsibility for North America revenue reporting and analysis at its Emeryville headquarters. We are seeking a hands-on individual with relevant consumer product industry experience in revenue accounting in a global company environment. The position reports directly to the Senior Manager of Revenue and Cost Accounting with routine interactions with FP&A, Operations and company Executives.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Revenue Reporting & Analysis
o Monthly Close: Timely and accurate completion of monthly close journal entries for the US, Canada & Mexico: revenue reserves and associated cost accounts for customer chargebacks, returns, and defective products; revenue cutoff and coupon liability accrual. Responsible for preparing detailed spreadsheet workpaper analysis to support all journal entries.
o Ledger Reconciliation: Analysis and Reconciliation of all assigned general ledger accounts including: deferred revenue, on-line store accounts receivable, revenue allowance reserves, and coupons allowance and expense accrual.
o Forecasting: Conduct detailed analysis to improve revenue reserves provision estimates.
o Variance Analysis: Conduct flux analysis to identify key components of monthly and quarterly account changes. Working with F,P&A, assist in the analysis of variances between forecasts and actual revenues and related costs.
o Reporting: Provide and explain relevant monthly company results and analysis to Management and External Auditors. As needed, provide recommendations to improve processes and/or results.
• Revenue Policies & Compliance
o Revenue Accounting Oversight: Working with the manager and Director of Worldwide Accounting, revising and/or establishing revenue-related accounting policies, SOX internal controls, financial reporting and analysis.
o U.S GAAP Compliance: Ensure company compliance with U.S. GAAP accounting standards and FASB EITF consensus.
Education & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration with 5-8 years of progressive and relevant experience in operational accounting and financial reporting.
• Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP revenue reserve and recognition rules required. General knowledge of Canadian GST, HST & PST and Mexican VAT.
• Experience with Oracle Financials strongly required. Systems implementations and process improvements experience helpful.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and basic Microsoft Access skills absolutely necessary, including the ability to design and utilize effective spreadsheets. Strong analytical skills are essential.
• Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively gather and convey information about problems and/or opportunities to co-workers, Management or Executives.
• Experience in a consumer product industry preferred.
• Ideal candidate will be a self-motivated, deadline oriented, fast-learner, who is organized, dedicated, and a team player with excellent problem-solving skills.
