1) Does anyone know where Quicken sources its exchange rates from? They seem to differ widely from, for example, OANDER historical rates for USD to AUD. The differences seem to be in the order of almost a full cent (0.9c often), which seems inordinate? Consequently I have resorted to downloading to Excel and matching OANDER rates in tax reports, which is a long way around the problem.
2) Can anyone tell me (since Quicken specialises in a lack of help notes in some areas), how quicken uses either of the two exchange rates in the "Investing/ Enter Transaction" dialogue box in the "Currency Exchange Rate" section of a Buy or Sell transaction? If I choose the "Set Rate for this Transaction" option, is that the rate used in reports, rather than the default rate?
3) Again, if I alter the exchange rate in a Dividend entry (Investing/ Enter Transaction/ Record an Income Event), from the default rate, is this new rate used in reports, rather than the default rate?
4) And is the default rate always correct? If I only download prices and rates once a week or monthly, does Quicken update correctly all previous dates? Basically I want to know if Quicken's rates are reliable?
Any assistance graciously accepted,
Shane
