My mother became a permanent nursing home resident, effective August 2017.
She receives a pension and SSA. These both now go to the nursing home (all but $80 per month), to maintain her expenses. Prior to August 2017, she lived in a senior housing apt.
Now that she is a permanent nursing home resident, does she need to file taxes?
