Hi,
My daughter who lived and worked in NJ all year received a W2 for 2015 that did not have any state wages in Box 16 or NJ State tax withheld in Box 17. I checked her last paystub and there are no NJ State income taxes withheld. My question is should I use Federal wages in Box 1 of her W2 to calculate her tax liability and/or should I have her request a corrected W2 to at least show NJ State wages in Box 16? Thanks!

I wouldn't use the Fed wages in the state box if it's not on the W2. I would call the company up and ask their accountant why NJ taxes aren't withheld... may be a good reason. If not, then they should offer a corrected W2.
