Hello everyone,

I am an EA and I have a taxpayer who is being audited on his 2013 personal tax return. I did not file his 2013 personal return. He came to me in January of 2015 because he received a letter from the IRS because his gross receipts on his schedule C(pizza shop) were less than the 1099Ks reported to the IRS. I asked him for his records and reconstructed his schedule C for him and we filed an Amendment. After 6 Months, the IRS decided that an audit needed to be done.

I am representing this client and I want to make sure I don't make any "rookie" mistakes. One thing the auditor is looking for is his mortgage application when he bought a house in 2013. Can they ask for that? Are there any "words of wisdom" anyone can give me going forward that I should know about?

Thank you in advance!!!

You are about to enter the boxing ring with a fearsome opponent and you are asking for a few boxing tips??
Your client deserves better representation than that.
If that mortgage application shows MORE income than tax return - client goes down for bank fraud and opens investigation for possible tax fraud.
Are you the best representative for this client?
