Equivalent to Spouse deduction

Can a single person claim their child as equivalent to spouse if the child turns 18 during the tax year? H&R says this: As long as your child was 17 years old at some point during the tax year, they’re considered dependants and can be claimed for the entire year.

Tax Reform eliminated the personal exemption for dependents for 2018.
