This is my very first post, and I'm hoping it's an easy one. But not too easy.
A married couple engaged a nanny/housekeeper over the summer to take care of their 3 children. I paid the nanny using the EIN of the wife's business. After the year was over, I learned that the husband had been issued an EIN for the household employee, so I issued a new W2. Well, now there's a problem, as the W2 has her name as the employer, but their address and the EIN which is in his name.
Since she's a doctor, she is insisting that the IRS will see her name as the employer and reject the W2. I'm saying it isn't worth printing the W2 over again, since the IRS won't care as long as the salary is claimed.
Does the IRS care whose name is on the form? Is there a matching program for names?
Thanks for any and all help.
