Hi, im looking to clarify something and seem to get confusing answers .
I work for a company who provide me with a fully expensed company car (tesla) which is fully electric.
I was hoping i could claim back the electricity used to charge the car for both business and personal mileage.
Looking at the HMRC website , it appears that i can only claim back business mileage at the rate of 4p per mile which seems very low. It also states states that if the company pay for the charging ie at the companies premises, then this isnt included even if its personal use.
What im trying to clarify is if the company pay for public charging , is that included ? it seems that 4p per mile wouldnt cover it ?
Thank you in advance

There is no benefit-in-kind charge for employees charging their own cars at a workplace charging station, as HMRC does not consider electricity to be fuel. And yes the advisory electricity rate is 4p per mile.
