I am on a tax team in a venture capital firm. Our only clients are the venture capitalists that own the firm I work in; we prepare the individual returns, their families returns, their kids trust returns, and their family limited partnership returns. Our question is do we sign as "paid preparers" on the returns we file for our bosses and their related family members? My thought is that we are not "paid preparers", but rather their employees that prepare their returns, so we don't need to sign. Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks.
