Hello, just wanted to verify. I have a friend who insists on telling me that short year 2024 (Jan - Feb only, closed on Feb 2024) operations should be filed on June 2024. I told him that it should still be filed next year, 2025. Can someone shed light to us about this? Thank you!

First of all - what type of entity is the business? C Corp or S Corp?
S Corps are due 2 1/2 months after fiscal year end. C Corps are due 3 1/2 months after fiscal year end.
In addition there are penalties for late filing of returns. What is done is to mark the beginning and ending dates of the fiscal year on the top of the tax return. You do not wait until the calendar year is up for the current year's form.
